Akure city experiences major commercial shutdown.

Akure, the Ondo state capital has had commercial activities cut down today due to an annual tradition in the town where shops and stalls are looted by youths whenever they are open. The event commonly known as ‘dududu’ is a losses takes all day. As such, traders, market women, shop owners are all advised to keep there shops closed for the day.

It is an almost equivalent of the European practice known as ‘Purge’, where all crimes are legal.

Meanwhile Banks, petrol stations, brothels and even traffic workers are unaffected by the plunge.

This continues to raise the question, will this tradition have stayed this long, had it been a major city???
How long will it last???.
