Zinedine Zidane fires shots at Chelsea when asked about Eden Hazard transfer
REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane says Eden Hazard needed to quit Chelsea for the sake of his career.
The Belgium maestro spent seven seasons at Stamford Bridge.
But he called it quits this summer after Real paid around £130m for his services Hazard had firmly established himself as one of the best players in the world in west London.
Zidane is adamant that the 28-year-old required a change of scenery.
Zidane told Spanish daily AS that“What Eden needed was a club like Madrid to improve,” “This club has something special and the players know it.
He also said that he arrived at 29 years old and I still had a lot left,I spent five years in this club and I had a better time, I improved with 29 years.
“We know the player he is, we know how important he is going to be.”
Real struggled to fill the post-Cristiano Ronaldo void last season following his departure to Juventus .
Zidane says Hazard can be Los Blancos’ new game changer.
He added: “Hazard is a determining player, he makes a difference, it is very important in today’s football.
“He has shown it and now we have it, we are going to take advantage of his qualities, he will give us a plus, for sure.”
Real remain interested in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
However, Zidane has been told he must sell before he can buy again.
Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez now look the most likely high-profile departures.
Rodriguez has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
But when quizzed about his future, Zidane was coy.
“He is a player of Madrid and we will see what will happen,” Zidane said. “At the moment he is on vacation. I cannot say more.”
Rodriguez spent the last two season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Bundesliga side opted not to make the move permanet.
